Essence of Equus - Coaching,Training & Riding Lessons in partnership with the Horse
Thanks for visiting!
Are you looking for Western riding lessons
or training for your horse?
If so, you have come to the right web site!
Wendy's riding lessons focus on building confidence & skill for the riders.
In addition, Wendy teaches every student the importance of listening and understanding the messages the horse is providing regardless if the student is working with the horse on the ground or on their back.
During the lessons students will learn:
  • Safety while working with horses
  • Horse communication
  • Basic horse care (brushing, cleaning hooves, saddling, etc.)
  • How to connect with and use our bodies effectively to communicate with the horse
  • Riding techniques that meet the riders needs and goals
Wendy trains horses in a similar way she teaches riding lessons.  She meets the horses where they are in their training and works with them to increase their confidence and skill. Wendy works with the horses to find their strengths and teaches them at their pace of learning.
The foundation of her training techniques stems from Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt.  She also incorporates other methods that she has learned over the years which includes Linda Tellington Jones and Jack Brainard.  Wendy works with horses of all ages and her specialty is working with young and mis-understood horses.
In addition to Wendy's ongoing education specific to horses, she has also attending training in Mindfulness Stress Based Reduction (based on Jon Kabat-Zinn's book, Full Catastrophe Living), Usui Reiki I, Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki I & II, Essential Oils and healing/spirituality classes at the Center for Wholeness (
Wendy's passion is to help people experience what animals can teach us, if we only open our eyes and hearts to the possibility!
