About Wendy DeCamp

Founder, Owner and Operator of Essence of Equus

Wendy founded Essence of Equus because of her life-long passion for animals, especially horses.    She is a horse trainer, riding instructor, coach and leader of equine-guided workshops.  She began riding at 8-years old and owned her first horse, Tequila, by age 10. She began competing in the Western Saddle Clubs Association show ring, the MN High School Rodeo circuit, continuing onto College and Professional Rodeos. She earned her BA degree in Animal Science and Business at the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. She studied the Natural Horsemanship methods of Ray Hunt and did an internship in Equine Massage.  Wendy utilizes her deep intuition and ability to watch, listen and understand the knowledge and feedback that horses provide whether she is training horses, teaching riding lessons, in a one on one coaching session or facilitating a workshop.  She is grounded in the values and beliefs that animals have a spirit, are highly intelligent and we can learn from them as long as we open our mind and hearts to the possibility.

During her time in the corporate world at Carlson Companies, Wendy became a certified facilitator for Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of highly Effective People.” That’s when she discovered her love and passion for helping people learn and grow.

She went on to work with a non-profit organization that partnered with horses to help at-risk youth. While there, she created and facilitated Wellness workshops for individuals looking for personal growth opportunities and assisted in equine-guided individual and group therapy sessions.

More recently she trained as a life coach with Coaches Training Institute. She brings all these talents, skills and life-long passion to helping people discover their own gifts and talents and bring them out into the world.
